Sunscreen is more important at you think….

This a simple reminder from your friends at Sunburst Inn.  When it comes to skincare, there are many things you should be aware of. One of which is sunscreen.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, using sunscreen every day can help reduce your risk of skin damage and skin cancer. Yet many people still don’t regularly wear sunscreen despite knowing the dangers it poses to their skin. In fact, a recent US study found that only 22% of people surveyed reported wearing sunscreen daily when going out in the sun. This is concerning because prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause damage not only to your skin but also to your overall health. It can lead to wrinkles, premature aging, and an increased risk of skin cancer. Proper sun protection can therefore help reduce these risks while also improving the appearance of your skin. That’s why it’s essential to wear sunscreen even when it’s not sunny outside. UVA rays are present throughout the year and can penetrate glass so it’s important to apply sunscreen whenever you go outdoors to protect your skin from these harmful rays. UV rays can damage your skin in a variety of ways, including destroying collagen and accelerating the aging process. This can lead to dry, rough skin and age spots. It can also contribute to the development of wrinkles and fine lines on your face. Prolonged sun exposure can also lead to sunburn, freckles, and even skin cancer.

So how can you protect your skin from the sun? Wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher will help protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun. You should reapply sunscreen every two hours or after swimming or sweating. If possible, choose a product with a water-resistant formula that can be worn in the water, and be sure to protect your lips as well by applying lip balm with SPF 15 or higher.
